Our guild was established in 2000, hence the name Millennium Quilters. We started with about 15 members and quickly grew to our current 50 members. Our members include people of all ages and abilities. We have members who like to appliqué and those who think piecing is the only way to go.
We meet on the fourth Monday of every month at The Benedum Center in Bridgeport, WV. Entrance is through the rear of the building. Meetings begin at 6PM in the months of November through March. Meetings begin at 6:30PM April through October.
Our monthly programs are as varied as our members. Programs are presented by members, professional quilters in our area, local shop owners, and visiting professionals.
Each year we choose a charity project to work on. Some of our projects have been quilts for Ronald McDonald House, CASA, and homebound senior citizens. We have also made cancer caps for the local hospital. On National Quilt Day in March each year, we make a quilt for the first baby born that day. This year we made a log cabin quilt for Fort New Salem to raffle.
Another yearly project is a raffle quilt. Many members get involved in the planning, piecing, and quilting of the project. We are very proud of the quilts we have created. Part of the money from the raffles goes toward our charity projects.
New members are always welcome. In addition to programs with nationally known teachers, reduced rates for workshops, small group activities and monthly newsletters, being a member of Millennium Quilters affords you the opportunity to develop friendships with other quilters.
